International Commemorative Match for the 75th Anniversary of Japan-India Diplomatic Relations (Cricket)

Nippon Travel Agency (NTA) served as the official logistics and hospitality partner for the Indian men’s national cricket team—the world’s top-ranked side—during their inaugural T20 international tour in Japan.

On Tuesday, September 22 (a public holiday), an international friendly match was held at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, between the Japanese men’s national cricket team and the Indian men’s national cricket team—a side ranked number one in the world.

This match was held as part of an agreement concluded during a meeting between Prime Minister Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India; it served as a momentous occasion, symbolizing the bonds of friendship between the two nations.

On the day, 2,149 spectators attended to watch matches featuring the world’s top-ranked star players.

Tickets for the event sold out within hours of going on sale, and the YouTube stream garnered over 2 million views—attracting a tremendous amount of attention.

The match was also graced by a number of distinguished guests from the political and business spheres of both Japan and India—including Kazuhiro Fujii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Nagma Mohamed Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan—which added greatly to the excitement of the event.

Despite a prolonged spell of rainy weather in Japan, we were blessed with favorable conditions on the day of the match, allowing the event to take place successfully.
