Nippon Travel Agency joined the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC®) for Sustainable Travel and Tourism

Nippon Travel Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshiteru Koyano) has become a member of the  the Global Sustainable Tourism  Council, which establishes and manages international standards for sustainable tourism, effective January 2024.

Founded in 1905, Nippon Travel Agency is Japan's oldest travel agency and has been providing services that meet the needs of each era, while striving to create appealing travel and warm service.

In order to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and to put our corporate philosophy into practice as well as to realize our corporate vision, we are implementing initiatives based on the themes of "People", "Landscape", and "Culture". In cooperation with local communities, we are planning and selling travel products that lead to carbon offsetting, developing co-creation programs with companies involved in the SDGs, and developing educational materials.

We are pleased to announce that we have joined the GSTC and will continue to work with local communities and tourism businesses to promote and develop sustainable tourism in the Japanese tourism industry based on the GSTC standards.

We will continue to think about what tourism can do to help create a sustainable society, and our customers, suppliers, and employees will work together to contribute to the future of society as a whole, including the global environment.

■The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is an international non-profit organization established in 2007 to promote sustainable tourism and administers the GSTC Criteria, a global standard for the tourism industry. The criteria are used for international accreditation of sustainable tourism certification bodies and as guidelines for sustainable tourism destinations around the world. GSTC also conducts promotional activities, including educational programs to train personnel in the field of sustainable tourism.
