Launch of Japan-Thailand Sustainable Tourism Promotion Project

NIPPON TRAVEL AGENCY (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Etsumitsu Koyano) has launched an international cooperation project to promote sustainable tourism in Japan and Thailand with the aim of contributing to a decarbonized society as a tourism industry.

The project provides local governments, companies, and educational markets with a global perspective on environmental conservation through participation in environmental conservation activities in Thailand, and encourages participants to change their own behavior.

To launch the program, NIPPON TRAVEL AGENCY has signed two Collaborative Agreements and a contract for the purchase of carbon credits in various locations in Thailand.

Opening of the "NIPPON TRAVEL AGENCY MANGROVE FOREST"

Concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Banpu Nature Conservation Center (Samut Parkan Province, Thailand).

Opening of the "NIPPON TRAVEL AGENCY PADDY FIELD"

Concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with a farming association in Suphanburi prvince promoting carbon offset through rice cultivation.

Purchase of carbon credits from Mitr Phol Group, Asia's largest sugar company

Started creating products for a carbon offset program that virtually eliminates CO2 emitted furing round-trip travel to Thailand. (※Program for japanese domestic travel now in sales)

Nippon Travel Agency will promote this project will the support and the collaboration of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
