Gifu City : Where Business Meet Tradition

Gifu city, located in the south of Gifu prefecture, serves as the capital of the prefecture. Its central location in Japan has given Gifu city an important role in the country's history.

Gifu was the first city in Japan to receive certification as a Japan Heritage site, highlighting the cultural properties rich in historical charm that have been passed down through generations.

Located in Gifu Castle, Lord Nobunaga Oda sought to unify the world. Prince Nobunaga captivated distinguished guests from around the globe, including Luis Frois, with his hospitality, which transformed his previously cold-hearted image. They enjoyed activities such as watching cormorant fishing on the Nagara River and staying at mountain lodgings that were famously referred to as a "paradise on earth."

Gifu has become a prosperous area due to its proximity to Aichi Prefecture and its major automobile industries. The city is home to many metalworking businesses and boasts a wide range of traditional industries, including Gifu fans, Japanese Mino paper, Gifu lanterns, Gifu umbrellas, and traditional foods.
