Naha

Naha, located in the southern part of the main island of Okinawa, is the gateway to the prefecture. It was the capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom, an independent state that once existed in Okinawa, and the Shuri Castle became the center of politics, economy, and culture. The ruins of Shuri Castle, which still exist underground, are registered as a World Heritage Site. In the center of Naha, there is a 1.6 km long shopping street called Kokusai Dori, lined with about 600 stores like restaurants and souvenir shops. You can enjoy Okinawan cuisine and buy Okinawan souvenirs there. A quick 13 minute ride on the monorail from Naha Airport to Kokusai Dori is another appeal point which attracts travelers.

Motobu & Nakijin Village

Located in the northern part of Okinawa Island, Motobu and Nakijin Village are about a two-hour drive from central Naha. The Churaumi Aquarium, one of the world's largest aquariums, is a must visit ! You can observe whale sharks, one of the largest fish species, in a huge tank called the Kuroshio Sea. Also, in Nakijin Village, a 20-minute drive from the Churaumi Aquarium, you can learn and experience the history at the ruins of Nakijin Castle, or visit Kouri Island to experience the beautiful scenery created by nature.

Ishigaki Island

Ishigaki Island, an hour flight to the south of the main island of Okinawa, is famous for Kabira Bay, which glows in emerald green. Enjoy the spectacular view from the observatory or take a glass boat ride to look into the sea. Also, Iriomote Ishigaki National Park, of which Ishigaki Island is a part of, has been recognized as Japan's first International Dark Sky Places. There are a number of spots on the island where you can see the beautiful starry sky spread out all around, so be sure to visit at least one of them!

Onna Village
Onna Village
Onna Village is located in the center of the main island of Okinawa, about an hour from central Naha, famous as a resort area. At the Blue Cave, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the sea surface glowing a mysterious blue from the reflection of sunlight inside the cave. Also, Cape Manzamo, located in the northern part of the village, is attractive for its uniquely shaped cliffs and the scenery created by the sea, sky, and greenery.
Miyako Island
Miyako Island
Just a 45-minute flight from Naha Airport, Miyako Island has beaches and activities to enjoy. Higashi-Hennazaki, a cape at the southeastern tip of the island and a 40 minute drive from Miyako Airport, is 2km long and has been designated as a national scenic beauty spot.
The Irabu Ohashi Bridge, known for being the longest, free entrance bridge in Japan at 3,540 meters, connects the island to the neighboring Irabu Island. Just driving across the bridge is a great way to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Taketomi Island
Taketomi Island
Water Buffalo Cart Rides are popular on Taketomi Island, only a 10-minute ferry ride from Ishigaki Island. Take a cart and enjoy a 30-minute tour through the red-brick-roofed village. During the tour, you can listen to songs sung by the guide while playing the sanshin (Okinawan traditional instrument). Also, you can easily cycle around the island since it is a small island with a circumference of about 9 km.
