Travel Restrictions

  • Currently, all foreign nationals are not allowed to visit Japan for tourism purposes.
  • Since March 19, 2021, all visitors to Japan (including Japanese nationals) must submit a certificate of negative test result within 72 hours prior to departure. If you do not have it before departure, you will be denied boarding the flight.
  • In addition to the above, all visitors will continue to be subject to take the PCR test at the time of entry, wait at a designated location, and not use public transportation within Japan for 14 days. For more details, please check the latest Border enforcement measures (As of April 23) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Situation in Japan

  • The state of emergency has been declared in the four prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo until May 11th. In these areas, department stores are closed except for the food and cosmetics sections. Restaurants that serve alcohol have been asked to close, and all other restaurants have been asked to close before 8 pm. Most movie theaters, karaoke bars, and tourist attractions are also closed during this period.
  • Priority vaccination for health care workers started on February 17th, and vaccination for the elderly over 65 years old started on April 12th.
  • Regarding the sports events, the officials have decided not to allow spectators from overseas. If you need more information, please feel free to email us. The torch relay is taking place in Kyushu this week, and Okinawa this weekend!
