Coronavirus -Situation in Japan-

We are writing to update you with our current situation. Please check the following and let us know if we could be of any help!

Travel Restrictions

  • Currently, all foreign nationals are not allowed to visit Japan for tourism purposes.
  • All visitors to Japan (including Japanese nationals) must submit a certificate of negative test result within 72 hours before departure. If you do not have it before departure, you will be denied boarding the flight.
  • In addition to the above, all visitors will continue to be subject to take the PCR test at the time of entry, wait at a designated location, and not use public transportation within Japan for 14 days.
  • Re-entries are not allowed from countries/regions with the high concern of the confirmed coronavirus variant (B.1.617). As the target countries are changing daily, please check the Border enforcement measures by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for the latest details.

Situation in Japan

  • The government lifted the state of emergency in nine prefectures including Tokyo on June 20. Only Okinawa will remain under the measure until July 11 (NHK WORLD).
  • There are pre-​emergency measures in 10 prefectures. The restriction asks restaurants not to serve alcohol after 7 pm and allows only one or two-person groups for 90 minutes in 23 wards of Tokyo. The rule depends on the region.
  • The vaccination speed in Japan has increased due to the vaccination at workplaces and schools, including large-scale vaccination centers in Tokyo and Osaka that started in May. The government plans to finish vaccinating those who wish by the end of November (The Mainichi).
  • The athletes are starting to arrive from all over the world, and we are ready to support them here in Tokyo! The official has announced a playbook to ensure a healthy and safe event in Japan.
  • The torch relay has now reached Chiba Prefecture, which is traveling through 47 prefectures in Japan! Please check the official website for the latest status of the torch relay.
  • The IOC (International Olympic Committee) has announced that they will allow a maximum of 10,000 local spectators with no more than 50% of the venues (The New York Times
