In 1397, the 3rd Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu gave up his General position and purchased a villa, which originally was called “Kitayama-dai” and belonged to the statesman Saionji Kintsune, for his retirement. After his death, Ashikagas son converted it into a Zen temple.
In addition to historical exhibitions and a fashion show to demonstrate the beauty of the traditional japanese clothings, you can also experience the feeling of wearing a 12-layer kimono. In the second floor you can see weaving performances by skilled craftsmen to get a more comprehensive understanding of the Nishijin. Amanohashidate, Matsushima and Miyajima are known as the three most scenic panoramas in Japan. From the View Land Point you have the best sight over the Hiryukan, the so called “view of the flying dragon”.
Take a boattrip for about 30 minutes and overlook the Bay of Aoshima, full of the Meiji era style houses and a special group of houses built on the water’s edge. Feeding black-tailed gulls flying near the cruise is a popular pastime.
Maizuru Port Toretore Center is a place for the whole family where you can add a wealthy amount of seafood of Japan’s Sea to your dining table. All year round you can buy gifts for friends and family, or taste seafood cooked up on the spot. In addition, here or around the capitals north, there is an activities- and information-center.
In the atmosphere of the gas lights garden, the lights of the red bricked buildings shine by night. The tourists say, that they get a feeling of an exotic fragrance, when they take a walk through the East Maizuru Bay Area. In the red-brick museum, you can visit a variety of bricks from the buildings of the world’s greatest civilizations.
The Sky Tower is located in the center of Maizuru’s Gorogadake Park with a height of around 50 meters. The 360 degree panoramic lookout from the observation deck resides 325 meters above sea level, called “Kinki Hundred Views”. Here you can enjoy a great view on most magnificant landscape.
The Akashi Strait Bridge (opened in April 1998) spans the Akashi Straits from Maiko, Tarumi Ward in Kobe City to Matsuho, Awaji-cho, Tsuna-gun, on Awaji Island, and it is the longest suspension bridge in the world, with a length of 3911 m and a main span length of 1991 meters. The main hanging towers are about 300 m high.
The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was built to commemorate the Chinese revolution and a pioneer named Sun Yat-sen, although in Japan it is only an exhibition of Sun Yat-sen lifetime photos, manuscripts and a relics museum.
Dôtonbori’s history begins in the Edo period, when a man named Yasui Dôton built a canal to connect two branches of a natural river. The street is rich in an unbelievable number of restaurants and amusement facilities.
The Osaka Castle Park is located in the heart of Osaka, with a total area of 106.7 hectares. The castle tower under the blue sky showing off majestically to nowaday’s people and demonstrates the historical drama during its past time.
