Kabira Bay was choosen as one of Japan’s 100 most beautiful scenic spots. You can watch how the colour of the sea changes along with the sunlight from green to blue, and by riding a glass-bottomed boat you can also have a closer look on the coral reef.


Shuri Castle

The Shuri Castle

It was the royal court and administrative center in Naha, and with its height of about 120 meters it is the largest wooden building in the Ryukyu Kingdom. Based on photographs and historical records, the main building was reconstructed in 1992 and designated as a World Heritage in 2000.


Ryukyu village

Ryukyu Mura

This village was recreated in order to let people understand the ancient culture of Okinawa with its traditions and customs. It represents the styles and rituals which are adopted from Korea and Southeast Asia. Visitors have a chance to experience various ancient workshops like pottery, weaving or painting.


Shurei door

The Shureimon

This is the gateway of Shuri Castle, built in 1527 and it is a symbol of Okinawa. The form with the three basic archways shows the strong Chinese influence and both red tiled hip roofs are built in an unique construction method called Irimoya. On this photo you can see two women dressed in traditional costumes worn on Okinawa.


Ryukyu Glass Village

Ryukyu glass factory

Distinctive colors and a tactile quality are gathered together in the Ryukyu glass factory and represent the handicrafts of Okinawa. Aside from the art gallery and shop inside the unique white building, there is also an exposition of the Ryukyu Glass in its various colors made by the craftsmen of the island.


Buffalo cart

Water Buffalo Cart Ride

Subtropical plants in the primary colors, roads consisting of white sand and not a single noise of the world… This makes a comfortable riding tour with the buffalo cart through the scenery of old Okinawa and Taketomi’s perfectly preserved streets. You can also enjoy the background music of the Japanese three-stringed lute and the voice of the old guide.


Taketomi Island

Taketomi

See the original style of Okinawa’s old streets with the rich colors of the still retaining white sand roads, flowers between the walls and the red roof tile houses. This beautiful island was designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings in 1987.
