Mount Unzen

This Mount was recognized as one of the first national parks in Japan in 1934 for its natural beauty. The Plateau lies in a height of 700 Meters and is very popular as a summer resort.


Kiyomizu Temple

Kiyomizu Temple

The temple is part of the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto” and a world cultural heritage. The main hall was built half in midair, so people staying on the veranda have an amazing view over the whole area. This place in Kiyomizu is well-known.


Golden Pavilion Temple

Golden Pavilion Temple “Kinkaku-ji”

After World War II, Kinkaku-ji was rebuilt in 1955. In the sun the temple is sparkling golden and attracts many tourists every year. A huge garden area form the Muromachi period surrounds this World Heritage.


Nijo Castle

Nijo Castle

After Tokugawa Ieyasu won the Sekigahara battle in 1603, he built this Castle with contribution of the feudel lords of western Japan. The castle area features gardens full of japanese cherry and plum trees.


Shimabara Castle

Shimabara Castle

In 1618, Matsukura Bungo kept money from the goverment to build this castle in 7 years. The main “Donjon” have five storys and inside a lot of information on catholics and the local Edo era are gathered.


Prayer for Peace Park

Nagasaki Peace Park

Seibou Kitamura created a 10-meter-tall Peace Statue in the north of the Peace Park. The statue’s right hand points to the threat of nuclear weapons while the left hand symbolizes eternal peace.


Megane Bridge

Megane Bridge

The Japanese monk Mokusu of Kofukuji Tempel built this bridge in 1634. Its two arches and their reflection in the water create the image of a pair of spectacles, so the bridge received the nickname “Spectacles Bridge”.


Clover Garden Park

Glover Garden

A huge garden area of 30,000 square meters with Flowers from all over the World blossom here throughout the whole year. Situated on the southern slope of a mountain, it is possible to overlook the Nagasaki Harbour. Inside the garden you can visit the Thomas B. Residence, a Western-style Residence from the Meji era.
