Hida Takayama

Takayama

Takayama is famous for its well-preserved quarter with Edo-style streets. The tourist city of the Edo period as the royal territory and prosperity in the northern foothills of the Alps. Because it is very similar to Kyoto, it is also called “little Kyoto”.

Kyoto

Kyoto

Formerly the imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years. With temples, parks, bustling business districts, markets, from regal estates to the tightly-packed neighborhoods, Kyoto is one of the oldest and most famous Asian metropoles. It still holds many important cultural heritage and national treasures of Japan such as the Golden Pavilion Temple and the Silver Pagoda, Kiyomizu Temple and other historic buildings.

Nagoya Castle

Nagoya Castle

Like the Matsumoto Castle in Nagano, the Nagoya Castle is a flatland castle. That is, it was built on a plain, rather than on a more defensible mountain-top or riverbank. The shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu chose the site because it lay along the Tokaido highway which linked Edo (Tokyo) with Kyoto. The castle includes two of the famous kinshachi (or tiger-faced dolphins) made of gold-plated copper, each more than eight feet long.

Missile township

Gassho-zukuri style farmhouses

Nowhere else in Japan will you find the unique gassho-zukuri style of farmhouses. Their steep, thatched roofs are reminiscent of hands folded in prayer—gassho in Japanese. Each of the surviving homes is a priceless cultural asset, thought by many to represent the pinnacle of Japanese wooden building techniques.

New spike high altitude cableway

Irago

This is the second most famous two-layer cableway in the world and the first in Japan, with a total length of 3200 meters and a height of 1039 meters, overlooking a majestic Northern Alps panorama of the the Hotaka Mineyama plateau.

Mount Fuji

Mount Fuji

With a height of 3776 meters, Japan’s most famous mountain – Mount Fuji – is the symbol of Japan. Rising into the blue sky, the majestic and solemn beauty of Mount Fuji is famous overseas.

Fujikawaguchiko Spa

Lake Kawaguchi

Lake Kawaguchi is located in Fujikawaguchiko, southern Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji, Japan. It is the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes in terms of surface area, and is located at the lowest elevation. It also has the longest shoreline of any of the Fuji Five Lakes. The area is a popular resort, with many lakeside hotels, windsurfing facilities, camp sites, and excursion boats.
