Matsumoto Castle, also known as the “Crow Castle” because of its black exterior, is one of Japan’s premier historic castles. It is located in the city of Matsumoto, in Nagano Prefecture and is within easy reach of Tokyo. It is listed as a National Treasure of Japan. Matsumoto Castle is a flatland castle because it is not built on a hilltop or amid rivers, but on a plain. Its complete defences would have included an extensive system of inter-connecting walls, moats and gatehouses.

This is the country’s only gem museum which was established in Yamanashi. It was relocated from Kofu-city to Kawaguchiko area and redesigned in 2007. The building is European style, and 500 different types of 3,000 precious stones and gems collected from Japan and the world are displayed in the museum. The museum displays the gems from the raw stone to cut stone and jewelry alongside, and you can learn how to polish a raw stone to produce a magnificent jewel.

Lake Kawaguchi is located in Fujikawaguchiko, southern Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji, Japan. It is the second largest of the Fuji Five Lakes in terms of surface area, and is located at the lowest elevation. It also has the longest shoreline of any of the Fuji Five Lakes. The area is a popular resort, with many lakeside hotels, windsurfing facilities, camp sites, and excursion boats.
