Kusatsu Onsen is one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resorts. It features a large volume of high quality hot spring water said to cure many illnesses. Kusatsu is situated at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level in the mountains of Gunma Prefecture, and offers skiing in winter and hiking during the rest of the year.

Ikaho’s reputation as a good spa resort is widely known. It is written in an old document that onsen waters were welling up in Ikaho, confirming Ikaho’s long history. Ikaho is best known for the stone steps which lead up through the town center and are lined by Japanese style hotels and souvenir shops.


Nikko Toshogu

Nikko Toshogu

Nikko Toshogu is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Initially built in 1617, during the Edo period, while Ieyasu’s son Hidetada was shogun, it was enlarged during the time of the third shogun, Iemitsu. Ieyasu is enshrined here, and his remains are entombed here.

Nikkō Tōshō-gū

Nikkō Tōshō-gū is a Shinto shrine located in Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. It is part of the “Shrines and Temples of Nikkō”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Five structures at Nikkō Tōshō-gū are categorized as National Treasures of Japan, and three more as Important Cultural Properties. Please enjoy a reproduction of history and culture of the Edo period with souvenir shops and entertainment facilities.

Kinugawa Onsen is known as the “okuyashiki” or “living room” of Tokyo. It became a major destination for those wanting to escape the noise and congestion of the city. The central area is home to several hotels and ryokan, most with their own hot springs. There are also a lot of entertainment facilities available.

In Tokyo we will also visit the Roppongi area which is famous for fashion and jewelery stores as well as for its bars and restaurants. It is a popular hotspot among young Japanese people. You can also enjoy Shiodome Odaiba in Tokyo, as well as the famous Akihabara electrical street.
